Tips from Timeless Aesthetics, LLC in Colorado Springs & Castle Rock

Recently had lip filler injections? Here are 12 tips from Timeless Aesthetics, LLC after your treatment

Thank you for choosing Timeless Aesthetics, LLC for your lip filler treatment. Please keep in mind, it is normal to swell, bruise and experience minor tenderness after leaving our office and this should resolve within 24-72 hours.  Complete healing is expected to take up to two weeks.  Below are tips recommended to help with what to expect during aftercare.

  1. Apply ice to your lips afterward using an ice pack or an ice cube covered in a thin cloth (so it doesn’t stick to the lip and cause pain), or frozen peas. This will help ease swelling, bruising, and other discomforts.
  2. We recommend taking Tylenol after receiving injections, and not blood-thinning medications like ibuprofen or aspirin. Benadryl may also help reduce swelling and can be taken.
  3. Avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours after you get lip fillers. Increased blood pressure and heart rate from exercise may worsen swelling or bruising. It’s fine to engage in light activity, like walking.
  4. Drinking plenty of water will help your body heal. Stay hydrated!
  5. Do not drink red wine for 48 hours-so people have reported that their lips swelled worse.
  6. Eat plenty of hydrating fruits and vegetables and try to avoid excess sodium and salt, which may worsen swelling.
  7. Avoid high temperatures, like steam rooms, saunas, or heated exercise classes for 48 hours after treatment. High heat can make swelling more pronounced.
  8. No Kissing x 24 hrs. to avoid bacteria and thus possible infection.
  9. If you’re getting lip fillers for a specific event, make sure to leave plenty of time between the procedure and the event to allow your lips to recover appropriately for 2 weeks.
  10. Try to sleep with your head elevated on pillows to reduce swelling. Do not sleep on your face.
  11. Avoid makeup on your lips for up to 24 hours after the procedure.
  12. If you have any questions, contact the office at (719) 425-9336.  If it is after hours, please leave a message or send a text message and we will return the call as quickly as we can.
