What is a Chemical Peel?
Not all chemical peels are created equal. At Timeless Aesthetics, LLC we offer VI Peel ®. Our chemical peel will help improve and smooth the texture of your facial skin through the use of a chemical solution that will peel off dead skin. This will yield skin that is smoother and less wrinkled. Our VI Peel ® will treat your stubborn melasma, age spots, discoloration, and acne. Not only do chemical peels remove dead skin, but they also stimulate the growth of new skin cells.
Healthline states that “VI Peels are gentle enough that they can safely be used on your face, chest, eyelids, hands, and back. According to the Vitality Institute (who is the creator of the Peel), this type of peel can be used on all skin types and tones. The product used in VI Peels is made up of a blend of ingredients that include:
- trichloroacetic acid (TCA) (10 to 12 percent)
- phenol (10 to 12 percent)
- salicylic acid (10 to 12 percent)
- vitamin C (4 percent)
- tretinoin (0.1 to 0.4 percent)
What Should I Expect from a VI Peel?
To get the best results from VI Peel®, the procedure must be done in a series of six peels, three weeks apart. You can notice a mild tingling sensation or heat on your skin, depending on the type of peel that is carried out. You will notice peeling around your mouth and then your forehead by the second or third day. If your skin is well hydrated, the peeling will continue for seven to ten days.

- Avoid certain skincare products: In the week leading up to your peel, you should avoid using any harsh skincare products containing retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), or benzoyl peroxide. These ingredients can increase skin sensitivity and potentially cause adverse reactions to the chemical peel.
- Sun protection: Minimize your sun exposure and use a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily. This should already be a part of your daily skincare regime and sunburned or heavily tanned skin can react poorly to a chemical peel.
- Stay hydrated: Keep your skin well-hydrated in the days before your peel. Drink plenty of water and use a gentle, non-irritating moisturizer.
- Avoid waxing or laser treatments: Do not wax or use depilatory creams for at least a week before your treatment. Also, avoid any laser treatments on the area to be peeled.
- Evaluate medications: Inform us about all medications and supplements you’re taking, as some may need to be paused before the treatment. This is especially important for medications that cause photosensitivity or thin the skin.
- Prepare a post-peel skincare regimen: After a chemical peel, your skin will be sensitive and require special care. We will help inform you about the products to have afterward, like a gentle cleanser, a hydrating moisturizer, and effective sunscreen.
